SURREY, B.C. - Former Saginaw Valley State University quarterback Jonathon Jennings was signed to a contract by the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League on Monday (Apr. 13).
Jennings, the 2013 GLIAC "Player of the Year," finished his career as the GLIAC's all-time leader in passing (9,546 yds) and total offense (10,700 yds) for conference games only.
He joins former Cardinal teammate David Toussaint, a defensive back who was signed by the CFL's Ottawa Redblacks on March 4th. Toussaint racked-up 129 tackles in his SVSU career, adding 15 pass break-ups and three interceptions.
Both players were part of an SVSU run to three consecutive GLIAC North Division Championships (2011, 12, 13), including a pair of trips to the NCAA Division II Playoffs (2011, 13).
