2014:  Started at guard for the Cardinals and helped SVSU tally 267.4 yards-per-game on offense.  He helped anchor a line that produced one 200-plus yard rushing game and four others in which SVSU had over 100 yards rushing.

2013:  Was the starting guard on an offense that racked-up an impressive 476.7 yards-per game and scored 37.8 points-per-game...he helped anchor an offensive line that had two games with 300-plus rushing yards, and four others in which the Cardinals had over 200 yards rushing...he paved the way for GLIAC "Player of the Year" Jonathon Jennings's fantastic season as well as two-time All-American and current WR for the Green Bay Packers, Jeff Janis. 

2012: Competed in and started nine games for Saginaw Valley...was member of offensive line that finished first in the conference in passing yards per game (300.4), second in the conference in sacks allowed (8) and third in the conference in both first downs a game (23.8) and passing TDs (28)...part of offensive unit that averaged 463.3 total yards per game to finish fourth in the GLIAC.

2011: Earned a starting position in all 11 games for the Cardinals as an offensive lineman.

2010: Did not see action in 2010.

2009: Redshirted in 2009.

Prior to SVSU/Personal: Prepped at Rockford HS...played two years varsity football at the tackle position, four years on the wrestling team and one year track and field...a member of the 2008 state champion team...a part of the 2006 state runner-up team...awarded two varsity letters in football...part of the 2007 state champion wrestling team...was ranked seventh in the state...voted athlete of the month in February 2008...a member of the honor roll and is an eagle scout...major is undecided...son of Rich and Ellen Somsel...born 6/25/91.
