Collins To Be Inducted Into Capital University Athletics Hall of Fame

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Saginaw Valley State University Head Football Coach Jim Collins is set to officially be inducted into the Capital University Alumni Varsity C Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 15th.  The induction will take place at a reception and awards ceremony held in conjunction with the school's basketball games against Otterbein.

He will join four other individuals and a pair of teams to make-up this year's Crusader Hall of Fame Class.  Collins coached the Capital football team from 1997-2007, leading the Crusaders to three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III Playoffs from 2005-07, including back-to-back appearances in the national quarterfinals in 2005 and 2006. He compiled a 66-51 record during his tenure, including a school-record 11 wins in 2006. Collins is a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference "Coach of the Year" and was named Lee Tressell Ohio "College Coach of the Year" in 2006.

Collins has held the position of Head Football Coach at SVSU since the 2008 season, posting a 44-23 overall record (42-18 GLIAC) while leading the Cardinals to three NCAA Division II Playoff appearances (2009, 11, 13) and three-straight GLIAC North Division Championships (2011, 12, 13).
