Football Set To Take On GVSU In NCAA Division II Playoffs

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team is set to travel to Allendale for the second consecutive week to play Grand Valley State University, this time in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

The Cardinals (9-2) earned their first NCAA postseason berth since the 2011 season after securing the #5 seed in Super Region Four.  Grand Valley (9-2) enters postseason play as the #4 seed in the region.

The two teams are definitely familiar with one another, especially since they met last Saturday in the annual 'Battle of the Valleys' game and regular season finale.  The Lakers came out victorious in last weekend's contest, defeating SVSU by a score of 49-34.

This Saturday's game is slated for a 1:00 pm kickoff at Lubbers Stadium on the campus of GVSU.  The game will be televised on Xfinity/Comcast 900.  The winner will advance to the second round of the playoffs and will travel to play the region's top overall seed, Colorado State-Pueblo, on November 30.
