Jennings, Stanford Earn GLIAC Football "Player of the Week" Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has chosen Saginaw Valley State University quarterback Jonathon Jennings (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) as GLIAC "Offensive Player of the Week" today (10/10), while freshman kicker Scott Stanford (Novi, Mich.) also garnered conference "Special Teams Player of the Week."

Jennings lead the Cardinals by completing 19-of-27 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 38 rushing yards and another score in the Cardinals' 44-41 road win at Michigan Tech last Saturday. Jennings leads the conference in yards per game (273.8), including 15 touchdowns while completing 70 percent of his passes.

Kicker Stanford helped the Cardinals to victory by kicking three field goals in the 44-41 overtime victory over Michigan Tech. Stanford's first kick was a career long 45-yard field goal at the end of the first half. The true freshman added a key 20-yarder to put the Cardinals ahead 41-38 late in the final minute of play. After Tech failed to convert their overtime possession into points, Stanford once again came through in the clutch with a game-winning 23-yard field goal to give the Cardinals the 44-41 victory.
