Adam Piotrowicz enters his second year as the head coach of SVSU baseball in 2023-24. He enters the season with an overall record of 27-24 after leading the Cardinals to their most wins in a season since 2008.

In 2023 SVSU baseball finished with a 17-13 record in the GLIAC and was third in the conferenece. Under Piotrowicz, SVSU baseball had seven named to All-GLIAC teams along with four wining NCBWA All-Midwest Region honors. Pitcher Tyler McLaren also received ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors.

McLaren, along with Tucker Roe, Hunter Merillat, and Colin Cornwell were the four who received NCBWA All-Midwest Region honors. Roe and McLaren were both named to the first team All-GLIAC. Marillat, Cornwell, and Reed Raymond all made second team All-GLIAC. Jaccar Watkins and Austin Schweiger were All-GLIAC honorable mention.

The 2023 team set three program records, two pitching and one hitting. The Cardinal pitching staff pitched 432.3 innings and struck out 410 batters, both being records for the program. The Cardinal batters hit 23 triples in 2023 which broke the record as well. Roe tied the season at-bats record with 198 at-bats in 2023. He shares the record with Greg Charpie which was done in 1986. Watkins took sole possesion of the triples record in a season with eight of the 23 tallied by SVSU.

Piotrowicz joins SVSU as the sixth coach in program history. He comes from Western Michigan University where he served as the Associate Head Coach, Recruiting Coordinator, Hitting Coach, and Catching Coach for the Broncos’ NCAA DI program since 2013.

During his time at WMU, Piotrowicz helped lead the Broncos to a program record for conference wins in the MAC with a 23-17 record in 2021. Piotrowicz also led WMU to the program’s first MAC Tournament title in school history in 2016.

Prior to his time at WMU, Piotrowicz served as an assistant coach at Valparaiso University from 2010-2013 and as an assistant coach at Heidelberg University from 2008-2010. Throughout his career, Piotrowicz has been a part of eight conference championships and five NCAA Regionals.

Piotrowicz will be joined at SVSU by his wife Heather, and two sons, Elliot and Hunter.
