UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University redshirt-sophomore pitcher Jake Shelagowski earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday.
Shelagowski set a Cardinal baseball program record with his eleventh save of the season over the weekend. He had two appearances, pitching four innings, and allowed one run on three hits while striking out six. The Saginaw, Michigan native has 47 strikeouts over 30.1 innings in 2025, adding to the team's total of 431, as the staff looks to break the single-season strikeout record for the third consecutive year.
He recorded his eleventh save on the final game of the regular season with a perfect ninth inning in a 4-2 win over Purdue Northwest. Shelagowski leads the GLIAC in saves and is tied for third most in Division II.
This is the fourth Player of the Week honor for SVSU baseball this season and the first for Shelagowski in his career.
