Wise, Jones Earn 2018 All-GLIAC Honors

GLIAC — Saginaw Valley State Baseball notched two players for All-Conference accolades announced Wednesday (May 9) evening.  Sophomore pitcher Brandon Wise and junior first baseman Quincy Jones earned honorable mention accolades. 

Wise is finishing his second year with SVSU, working 55.1 innings as a starter for 10 games in 2018, posting a 4.39 era, the lowest out of any SVSU starting pitcher. Also, this era was 2.36 less then his freshman season where he appeared in 12 games, starting two, with three saves. He notched a total of 28 strikeouts and ended the year with a 3-4 record. 

Jones ended his junior year as a first baseman for the Cardinals. He added a .323 batting average, fifth on the team, while leading the team in home runs with four. Jones added 52 hits in his 161 appearances, totaling 24 runs for Saginaw Valley. He posted a .966 fielding percentage during this season, as well. 

Also, he closed in one contest during the 2018 campaign, striking out nine batters in 3.2 innings. Jones earned a save for that contest, as well.
