COLUMBUS, Ohio - The SVSU baseball team traveled to Ohio Dominican University for a weekend series to begin GLIAC play, beginning Friday for the first two games. The Cardinals would end up dropping both games, however, falling by a 4-3 score in the opener and by an 8-2 score in the nightcap.

Game One

Saginaw Valley got out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, as an Adam Fitzgibbon RBI single scored Chad Carson.

ODU responded in the home half of the frame, knotting the score at 1-1. The Panthers added another in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take the 2-1 edge.

The Cardinals got a pair of runs in the top of the 4th, using a big fly from Adam Turner that cleared the left field wall. The two-run home run scored Fitzgibbon as well and gave the visitors a 3-2 lead.

The scoring stayed dormant until the home half of the 6th inning. That's when the Panthers scored twice to take a 4-3 lead.

A 7th-inning scoring threat for SVSU would stall with runners at 1st and 3rd and ODU sealed the 4-3 win.
