XENIA, Ohio - Saginaw Valley State University junior outfielder Brad Schalk (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Bishop Foley HS) has been selected to the 2014 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Second Team by the league's head coaches following his play for the 2014 season.

Schalk was joined by fellow junior teammates D.J. Reetz (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage HS) and Andrew Geese (Saginaw, Mich. / Carrollton HS), who were both named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team.

The All-GLIAC teams were announced at an awards banquet held Wednesday evening in conjunction with the league tournament.  

Schalk followed up his sophomore season with one equally as impressive in his junior campaign. Schalk posted team-highs in batting average (.360), RBIs (24), hits (49), triples (4), on-base percentage (.440) and slugging percentage (.449). In 2013, he was named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team.

Reetz had a stellar season out of the bullpen for SVSU, his first in a Cardinal uniform. He posted a team-high four saves, which ranked him 7th in the GLIAC. He had a 3.38 ERA with 28 strikeouts in just 21.1 innings pitched. He was the NCBWA Midwest Regional Week 7 "Pitcher of the Week" and the GLIAC "Pitcher of the Week" that same week.

Geese posted a 5-3 record as a starter for SVSU in the 2014 regular season. The lefty registered 9.12 K's per game, ranking him second in the GLIAC. His 52 strikeouts ranked him 5th in the league and his five victories put him in the top-10. He was the GLIAC Week 5 "Pitcher of the Week."

The Cardinals play Wayne State Thursday (May 8) in the opening game of the 2014 GLIAC Tournament.  First pitch is set for 10:30 am at the Athletes in Action Complex in Xenia, Ohio.
