BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University junior starting pitcher Andrew Geese has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference "Pitcher of the Week" following his performance over the weekend in setting the tone for a weekend sweep for SV over Malone.
Geese threw a complete game in the Cardinals' victory in game one of their weekend series with Malone. The junior lefty allowed one earned run in his seven innings, striking-out five while scattering six hits. Geese leads the GLIAC in strikeouts-per-game with 10.80 and is second in total strikeouts with 42. His 2.57 ERA ranks him 10th in the league and his 11.89 strikeouts-per-nine innings ranked him 10th in the nation as of April 7th.
Saginaw Valley is back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 16), as it hosts Grand Valley State University in a single, nine-inning game that will start at 2:00 pm.
