FINDLAY, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University baseball team ended a three game, mid-week series with the University of Findlay by posting a 6-3 victory over the Oilers in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matchup.  The third and final game of the series was a nine inning contest played at Findlay's Fifth Third Field.

Both teams scored single runs in the first and second innings, respectively, as the score stood at 2-2.  In the first, an RBI groundout from Luke Valutis scored Dylin Eschenburg, who led the game off with a single to left field.  Eschenburg would come up with the RBI in the second inning, as his second hit of the game scored Kyle Kaufmann, who reached on a single himself and was bumped into scoring position on a Connor Foley single.

The Cards plated three runs in the top of the fifth, the first when Valutis scored Brad Schalk on a double to center field.  A Chris Perkovich RBI double and Kaufmann sacrifice fly would score Valutis and Tyler Schwanz, respectively, extending the lead to 5-2.

Saginaw Valley would tack-on its sixth run of the game as Valutis once again had an RBI, this time on a single to score Eschenburg.

The game remained without any more runs until the Oilers pushed to make a late-inning comeback.  Two walks wrapped around a single gave the home team the bases loaded with no outs.  That's when Aaron Langlois entered the game for SVSU starter Matt Stojkov, who had thrown the first eight innings of the ballgame.  

Langlois struck-out the first two batters he faced, setting up a situation where the bases were juiced with two outs.  

Findlay's Joe Sickler singled to left field, bringing across a run to make the score 6-3 and bringing the potential winning run to the plate.

Langlois buckled down once more, though, and disposed of Findlay's Miguel Valdez on three straight pitches to strike-out the side and seal the victory and earn his first-career save. 

Stojkov scattered seven hits and allowed three runs in his eight innings of work, getting his first-career victory.  

Eschenburg and Michael Craig each had three hits in the contest, with Eschenburg adding an RBI.  Valutis had a pair of base hits and three RBIs while Perkovich and Kaufmann each added two hits and an RBI.  Schwanz reached base three times on a hit and two walks.

The Cardinals (5-14, 2-7 GLIAC) welcome Lake Erie College to University Center for a weekend series that begins on Saturday (Apr. 5).  The doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00 pm at the SVSU Baseball Complex.
