Cardinals Fall To Lock Haven, 5-0

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Saginaw Valley State University baseball team dropped a 5-0 decision to Lock Haven University (5-6) on Monday afternoon (Mar. 8).  With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 2-5 overall on the season as they are just over halfway through their spring trip at the Russ Matt Invitational.

The game was scoreless after four innings of play.  Lock Haven would score two runs in the top of the fifth and three in its half of the sixth to take a 5-0 lead.  Saginaw couldn't respond, however, as neither team scored in the last three innings, which gave the Bald Eagles the five run victory.

Seniors Kevin Dore (Kawkawlin, Mich./Muskegon CC), Ryan Webber (Clio, Mich./Powers Catholic HS) and Josh Peterson (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek HS) all had singles in the game.  Sophomores Ryan Ermers (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II HS) and Mike VanAlst (Clio, Mich.) and freshman Kyle O'Boyle (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek HS) also added singles in the contest.  Freshman Carson Beauchaine (Fraser, Mich.) took the loss on the hill, giving up five runs while striking out six in as many innings and walking none.

SVSU is back in action tomorrow, as they take-on the University of Concordia, St. Paul in a single nine-inning game at 1:00 pm at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Fla.
