Zach Mendoza was named the full-time Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for SVSU Athletics in December 2020 after serving for two years as a graduate assistant for the Cardinal Strength and Conditioning staff. 

Mendoza had the opportunity to serve as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach from August 2018 to November 2020. He had the privilege to design programs and implement training for the SVSU Men’s and Women’s Track and Field, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving, and Women’s Tennis during his first year. During Mendoza’s second year, he took over the program design and training for the Softball program. Going into Mendoza’s third year, he is currently programming and implementing training with the Men’s Baseball team, Men’s and Women’s Soccer team and the Men’s and Women’s Golf team. He also served as an assistant to the SVSU Football team. 

Prior to his time as a graduate assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, Mendoza served as a volunteer and professional intern for SVSU Strength and Conditioning. Mendoza began his internship in the Fall of 2017 and finished in the Summer of 2018 when he stepped into the graduate assistant role. He was able to assist with a variety of the Varsity sports at SVSU, ranging from football, volleyball, track and field, men’s basketball, baseball, and softball. Mendoza, also, worked at the Freeland Sportszone beginning in the Fall of 2015 where Mendoza served in the private sector training athletes from all ages. 

Additionally, Mendoza serves as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club located in Saginaw, Michigan. During his time with the Spirit, they have been able to clinch back-to-back division championships in the two previous seasons. 

Mendoza is currently working towards his Masters Degree in Business and Administration at Saginaw Valley State University. Mendoza completed his undergraduate degree from Saginaw Valley State University in Exercise Science in 2014. He is certified through the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). 

Mendoza, resides in Freeland, Michigan, close to his hometown of Shields, Michigan.
