SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Olivia Dean

SVSU Cardinal Senior Spotlight - Olivia Dean

Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will be releasing a series of student-athlete spotlights, which will feature some of our Cardinal senior student-athletes from the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned to www.svsucardinals.com to get to know our SVSU seniors a bit more.

Next up in our series is Volleyball student-athlete Olivia Dean. Dean is a native of Almont, Michigan and has been a member of the team for the past four years. She has played in 85 career matches, racking-up 235 kills, 48 aces, 331 digs and 27 blocks in her 223 sets of action at the outside hitter position. She helped lead the Cardinals to a pair of NCAA appearances, with SVSU competing in the 2016 and 2019 tournaments in her career.

Her favorite memory while competing for the Cardinals was finally beating Ferris State in her senior season, as SVSU defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 in a home match on Sep. 21.

Dean graduated with her bachelor's degree in exercise science earlier this month and will be going back to school for an accelerated BSN program. She wants to be a labor and delivery nurse.

Outside of athletics, Olivia enjoys baking and cooking, saying that she's not very artistic so she gets to express her creativity through baking and cooking.

SVSU Volleyball Head Coach Will Stanton on Olivia Dean...

"Olivia set herself apart with her work-ethic and her attention to detail. She was a great role model for our younger players, and her development over her four years in the Cardinal uniform was tremendous. Liv was outstanding on the court and in the classroom, and will be missed!"
