Mike Wells Jr. - Men's Basketball
Senior Mike Wells Jr. led the Cardinals to a clean sweep of victories over the weekend against Michigan Tech in double overtime on Thursday and Northern Michigan on Saturday.
During the 105-94 double overtime victory against the Huskies, Wells was named the Meijer "Player of the Game" after setting his new career-high of 44. He was 15-of-24 from the floor, going 7-of-11 from deep. He added seven assists and a pair of steals as well.
In the regulation 92-66 win over NMU, Wells earned Meijer "Player of the Game" plaudits for the second straight game, following up Thursday's career night with a game-high 28 points. He added five rebounds, four steals and a rebound as well for the home team.
The SVSU Men's Basketball team will finish up their home stretch against Wayne State Thursday (Feb. 15) night at 8 p.m. The team will be honoring seniors Wells and LaDell Hickman.
Anna Hall — Women's Basketball
Junior guard Anna Hall (Walsh Jesuit HS // Stow, Ohio) earned herself the "meijer" player of the game accolades after posting her career-high of 20 points in the loss against Northern Michigan Saturday (Feb. 10) afternoon. Hall also posted five rebounds against the Wildcats.
In Thursdays loss against #16 Michigan Tech, Hall led the Cardinal defense in boards with 10. She added six points, as well.
