Oakley Hanger – Men's Soccer
Oakley Hanger (Weymouth, England / Southampton Solent) had an impressive weekend for the Cardinals, posting one goal and two assists in this weekends back to back victories against Purdue Northwest on Friday and Tiffin on Sunday.
In the 4-0 victory against the Pride, Hanger contributed the first assist of the game with a nice cross in front of the net, finished by teammate Alex Gloshen.
In Sundays 3-2 comeback victory, Hanger added an assist to the weekend off a touch feed to Michael Hamilton, tying the score 2-2. Hanger dropped in the game winning goal against the Dragons within 10 minutes left to play, his first of the season.
Hanger now has two goals on the season and four assists, both career highs for the sophomore.
The #19 Saginaw Valley State Men's Soccer team will be on the road this weekend for a pair of league match ups, beginning with a Friday (Oct. 20) with a night contest at Davenport in a 7:00 p.m. match. The Cardinals defeated the Panthers earlier this season by a score of 1-0 on October 1.
Sakura Bals – Women's Soccer
Sakura Bals (Hartland, Mich. / Hartland HS) tied her career high with two goals in the 4-0 victory against Northwood Sunday afternoon.
Bals notched in the second goal for the Cardinals with the help from Zo Schultz at the 42' mark. She also contributed the final goal for SVSU with only four minutes left of play.
The sophomore forward now has two goals and one assist on the season.
The Cardinals will continue on the road to play Ashland University on Friday (Oct. 20) at 7 p.m. The Eagles are on a hot streak, winning their last three GLIAC match ups.
