The Cardinal Kids Club is a program sponsored by the Saginaw Valley State University Department of Athletics that launched on August 1, 2009.  The intent of the program is to bring the families with young children in the Great Lakes Bay Region to the campus of SVSU to engage in the Cardinal Athletics experience.  Members will be exposed to not only the athletic contests and discounts on camps, but they will also have opportunities to directly interact with athletes, coaches and the Cardinal mascot throughout the year in a variety of capacities.

2016-17 Calendar of Events for Cardinal Kids Club Members

(all events are subject to change, members will be notified of changes via e-mail and facebook) 

 

August 28, 2016
 Kick-off event in the outdoor athletic complex that will include inflatables and a visit by Coop, the Cardinal mascot.  Sunday, August 28th beginning at 3:00 pm at the outdoor athletic complex of SVSU.  Membership drive from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm and boys and girls can join the SVSU football team from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm for a free football clinic in Wickes Stadium on the turf.  The clinic is open to the general public and it is the first in a series of seven Community Youth Days this year.  Then stick around for autographs, more inflatable fun and raffles for unique experiences with Cardinal Athletics and more until 6:00 p.m. 

* - 173 kids enjoyed the Kick-Off event for the Catholic Federal Credit Union Community Youth Day clinic hosted by the SVSU Cardinal Football team on August 28th!  What a great day to be a Cardinal!Out of those 173, there were 62 Cardinal Kids Club Members! Also there were some winners for SVSU Football jerseys!

* - The winner of the number 5 Jeff Heath jersey was Ryan Young !  Jeff Heath is an SVSU alum in his 4th year with the Dallas Cowboys!

* - The winner of the number 82 Jeff Janis jersey was Jaiden Ossana! Another SVSU alum, Jeff Janis is in his 3rd year with the Green Bay Packers!

* - The winner of the number 55 Todd Herremans jersey, who is in his 2nd year with the Indianapolis Colts, was Luke Wagner!

"Passport Event #1" - Fast Track Registration at Softball and Baseball Community Youth Day -5:30- 6:30 pm 
Football game vs. Northwood at 7:00 pm with free admission for Cardinal Kids Club Members and parents 

Kick-off Kids of the Football Game v. Northwood: Emmanuel Barber & Quin Avis

* - 86 children enjoyed the Baseball and Softball Catholic Federal Credit Union Community Youth Day clinic hosted by the SVSU Cardinal Baseball and Softball teams on September 10th! Out of those 86, there were 22 Cardinal Kids Club Members! There were also two $250 scholarships given away to any clinic participants and Buffalo Wild Wings gift certificates given to Cardinal Kids Club Members only!  

* - Natalie Huiskens and Karson Bebow were the lucky winners of a $250 scholarship donated by Maier and Associates! 

* - Riley Skiles and Camryn Campbell were the lucky winners of the Buffalo Wild Wings gift certificates!

"Passport Event #2" - Cardinal Kids Club Day at Men's Soccer match v. Ashland at 2:30p.m. with free admission for Cardinal Kids Club Members and parents. 

Walk out with team, introductions, halftime on-field promotions and $1.00 pop and popcorn for members only. 

September 24, 2016
Fast Track Registration at Basketball Community Youth Day - 5:30 - 6:30 pm 
Football game vs. Ohio Dominican at 7:00 pm with free admission for Cardinal Kids Club Members and parents 

* -  We had 82 children enjoy the Basketball Community Youth Day on September 24th! They had a great time learning from our men's and women's basketball teams, which both advanced and competed in NCAA Division II Tournament play last season. All of our clinic participants received FREE bike helmets, as well as other cool prizes!
* - The winners of the bicycles were Madison O'Laughlin and Cameron Seville. 
* - The winners of the signed basketballs and SVSU basketball jerseys were Carla Compion and Jackson Hamel. 
* - The winner of the family package of ski helmets was Kaylie VanderElzen. 
A HUGE thanks to Catholic Federal Credit Union and St. Mary's Hospital Field Neuroscience Institute for these prizes.

October 9, 2016

"Passport Event #4" - Cardinal Kids Club Day at SVSU Women's Soccer match v. Northern Michigan at 12:00 p.m. with free admission for Cardinal Kids Club Members and parents.

Walk out with team, introductions, halftime on-field promotions and $1.00 pop and popcorn for members only. 

 * - We had 8 Kids Club members join the SVSU Women's Soccer team for on-field introductions and play a little soccer at halftime. 
* - Ethan Young and Everett Keyes were our winners of FREE kids meals, courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings. 

October 28, 2016

Trunk-or-treat Around the Track at SVSU with student-athletes and coaches from 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm.  This half hour is for Cardinal Kids Club members only.  This event is free, family-friendly and for kids under 12 years of age.  It will run from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm for the general public. 

* - 1,680 kids attended the Trunk or Treat around the Track event at SVSU's Ryder Center last Friday night. Your Cardinal Athletes alongside the Graff Bay City team enjoyed the opportunity to engage with the families who reside in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

"Passport Event #6" - Fast-track registration at the Tennis & Golf Community Youth Day – 11:30 am – 12:30 pm.  Men's and Women's basketball games vs. Lake Erie at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm with free admission for Cardinal Kids Club members and parents.  

* - 41 children enjoyed the Golf and Tennis Catholic Federal Credit Union Community Youth Day clinic hosted but the SVSU Golf and Tennis teams on December 3rd! There were also two $250 scholarships given away! Emmanuel Barber and Fletcher Keyes were the lucky winners of a $250 scholarship donated by Maier and Associates!

February 4, 2017
Fast-track registration at the Volleyball Community Youth Day 2:30 – 3:30 pm.  Men's and Women's basketball games vs. Grand Valley at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm with free admission for Cardinal Kids Club members and parents.  

 * - 90 children enjoyed the Volleyball Catholic Federal Credit Union Community Youth Day clinic hosted but the SVSU Volleyball team on February 4th! There were also two $250 scholarships given away. Joshua Tilot and Amara Ruffini were the lucky winners of a $250 scholarship donated by Maier and Associates! They weren't the only winners! Holly Scherzer went home with some SVSU Volleyball apparel as well as a signed volleyball by the SVSU Volleyball team and Harper Keyes was the lucky winner of a Catholic Federal Credit Union Under Armour duffle bag! A huge thanks to Catholic Federal Credit Union to making this all possible!
